HUB November Meeting 2025

Agenda

  1. Oktoberfest at Club Mereweather 
    • An email was sent to Club Merewether as requested/suggested last month and Craig responded and was very happy to have HUB along to be a part of the event.  He looked forward to next year’s event being even better.  Thanks again to all who assisted with the event.
  2. HUB at Noble Barrons Open Day
    • HUB was asked to help out with Noble Barrons’ open day.  Jeremy Dell and Stephen McLean helped out.  HUB supported a local homebrew shop that supports the club.  Jeremy for comment about the day?
  3. Next brew challenge reminder
    • January 15th - The Dark Side
    • Only dark beers allowed - Stouts, Porters, Schwarzbiers, Dunkels, etc.
  4. Next Month's Meeting
    • The Xmas party will be held in place of the monthly meeting.
    • December 6th 12pm - 4pm.  
    • Financial members and their families only.
    • Similar to last year; HUB will provide salad from Club Merewether as well as some sausages to BBQ.  Method has again offered their beer at wholesale price which will be sold over the bar at Club Merewether for a $3 ‘corkage’ to HUB members (wrist bands or similar will be distributed to those who RSVP).
  5. Newcastle Beer Fest
    • Have emailed and tried calling Luke Tilse, but have not heard anything back as yet.  I am assuming that we will do a similar thing to the last 2 years.  I will let people know as soon as the information is available.

 

  1. Phil from Good Folk Brewing to give a brewery tour 
    1. Phil showed great generosity by sharing the story of how Good Folk Brewing came to be.  He took us through the brewery out the back and we could see their unusual mash filter press setup.  He also talked to the way that Good Folk / The Blind Monk have changed their target clientele to maximise their customer attraction.
  2. Gavin from Method is looking to sell his 3V 50L homebrew system. He was wondering if anyone in the club might be interested. $400
