May (Thursday 18th) meeting at Modus
We hope to have a chat with one of the brewers. They have requested that we do not bring our own beer, but instead enjoy some of their own beers and food.
David Legg is moving back to the UK - he asked to thank the club for their general friendship and assistance over the first year of his brewing journey. We wish him all the best.
Brewing a Stout - Tech Talk presented by Andrew Rostas. The presentation slides can be accessed here.
Harvest Beer judging.
5 beers presented:
Plum Mead - Brendan Clarke
Coconut and Pineapple Sour - Justin Samuels
Spiced Ale - Rob Donaldson
Mango IPA - David Pontin
Coconut and Chilli White Stout - Andrew Palmer
All beers were well presented and started great discussions about ingredients, processes, tasting notes, suggestions for next time and of course preferences. Justin’s beer took out first place with 5 votes, just edging out Brendan’s mead with 4 votes.
All entrants earn 1 point for participating.
It was noted that all beers were free of common brewing and packaging faults and any issues with the beer were either down to recipe or personal preference. Well done!
